Platform Capabilities

An accurate list of what Commercify does today, how each part works, and what is not built yet.

What is built today

Five things, all usable now. Everything except the services is free and needs no account.

AI strategy generation

The AI GTM Strategy Generator sends your description to Claude, Anthropic's large language model, with a structured prompt and some general market context. You enter the technology, industry, development stage, target customer and goal. After you confirm your email, it writes a report.

  • Sections: executive summary, market assessment, recommended pathway (license, spin-out, partnership or direct sales), target segments, pricing strategy, launch plan, risks, validation experiments, funding and resources, next steps
  • Optional deep dives: pressure-test the pricing, turn the first validation experiment into a protocol, or draft first-contact outreach emails
  • Not trained on proprietary data and not connected to patent, funding or market databases

Calculators and assessments

Browser-based tools that work on the inputs you give them. They do the arithmetic and structure the thinking; they do not fetch outside data.

  • Readiness: TRL assessment, GTM readiness assessment, deep tech risk assessment
  • Numbers: market sizing (TAM/SAM/SOM), pricing, CAC and LTV, industry unit economics, five-year financial model
  • Planning: patent and IP planner, SBIR/STTR navigator, regulatory pathway navigator, pitch deck builder, GTM stack builder

Written reference material, maintained by hand and sourced where it gives figures.

  • A directory of US university tech transfer offices with sourced metrics
  • Deep tech market maps covering categories such as quantum, biotech, robotics and energy
  • Guides in Learn, strategy frameworks explained with examples, and the blog

What is not built yet

Earlier versions of this page described features that do not exist. To be clear, none of these is available today, and there is no release date for any of them:

  • Accounts, saved projects and team workspaces
  • A public API, webhooks or integrations with tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, Salesforce or Jira
  • Live market data, competitor monitoring or alerts
  • Simulated multi-expert review of a strategy

If one of these matters to you, the platform overview lists the closest free tool for each area.

How to judge an AI commercialization tool, including ours

Most AI tools in this space, ours included, are a general-purpose language model with a prompt and a report template on top. That is useful, and it is worth knowing exactly where the usefulness ends.

What language models do well

They are good at structure. Given a description of a technology, a model can lay out the questions a licensee or investor will ask, suggest plausible customer segments, list the usual risks for that kind of product and propose experiments to test the riskiest assumptions. It turns a blank page into a draft you can argue with, in minutes rather than days. For a researcher who has never written a commercialization plan, that first draft is often the hardest part.

Where they fall short

They are weak on current facts. A model's knowledge has a cut-off date, and it can produce a confident market size, competitor or regulatory detail that is out of date or simply made up. It knows nothing about your patent claims, your institution's policies or the conversations you have had with customers unless you tell it. And it will not push back the way an experienced adviser does when the plan rests on a weak assumption.

Questions to ask any vendor

  • Which model does it use, and is anything actually trained on proprietary data?
  • Which data sources does it query at run time, if any? Can you see the citations?
  • What happens to the description you submit? Is it stored, and for how long?
  • Which features can you use today, and which are on a roadmap?

Our answers: Claude via Anthropic's API; no proprietary training; no live data sources; and the list above is everything that exists today. Read our privacy policy for how submissions are handled.

Where to start, by role

Suggested starting points among the tools that exist.

University researchers

Start with the TRL assessment to place the technology, then run the strategy generator for a first view of pathway and market. The SBIR/STTR navigator helps if the next step is non-dilutive funding.

Tech transfer offices

The prioritization matrix helps rank disclosures against weighted criteria, and the university directory gives peer context. The strategy generator can produce a quick first-pass write-up on a disclosure before deeper diligence.

Deep tech founders

The deep tech risk assessment, market sizing calculator and financial model generator cover the questions investors ask early. The pitch deck builder lays out the slides.

B2B SaaS teams

The GTM engineering guide, GTM stack builder and CAC and LTV calculator cover how revenue systems are built and measured. Done-for-you help is available through the waitlist.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Commercify use its own AI models?

No. The strategy generator uses Claude, a model made by Anthropic, through its API. Commercify writes the prompts and the report structure. Nothing is trained on proprietary data, and the model does not learn from your submissions.

Is there an API, webhooks or integrations with Slack, Salesforce or Jira?

No. There is no public API, no webhooks and no third-party integrations. Reports are delivered by email and on the results page, and the calculators run in your browser.

Is there a logged-in workspace or team account?

Not yet. Commercify has no accounts, saved projects or team features. These are planned, with no release date.

How should I treat figures in an AI-generated report?

As starting points to check. Language models can state market sizes, competitor names or regulatory details that are out of date or wrong. Confirm every figure against a primary source before using it in a pitch, a license negotiation or a funding application.
